Vietnam¡¯s tea exports were worth US$34 million by end-May, a 6.1 percent rise year-on-year, official reports said Monday.
The country, a major international supplier of tea, had exported 37,000 tons, an increase of 10.1 percent, the General Statistics Office added.

The government has urged the industry to expand export markets, intensify trade promotion, improve quality, and build trademarks.

Vietnam¡¯s major markets include Pakistan, China, Russia, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Germany, Poland, Taiwan, and the US.

Last year it exported 105,000 tons of tea, including 65,000 tons of black tea and over 27,000 tons of green tea.

It targets exports of 140,000 tons in 2010 for earnings of US$190 million.
